About Us

Philip Patrick, creator of the 5-step Retention Success System™, has over 22 years of skilled nursing recruitment experience. During this time, Philip discovered key consistencies that cause staff disengagement and turnover—and key drivers of engagement and retention.

Also, during this time, Philip witnessed first-hand how an elderly family member’s nursing care varied from staff member to staff member, how some caregivers were consistently motivated to provide thorough and compassionate care, and how others were apathetic and disengaged. This personal experience prompted Philip to launch a 2-year panel study with nursing home professionals on staff engagement (including certified nursing assistants, licensed and registered nurses, unit managers, and top-performing Directors of Nursing Services).

Based on this extensive research and personal experience, the 5-step Retention Success System™ was created to provide Directors of Nursing Services and Nursing Home Administrators with a straightforward process to measure and improve engagement and retention.

Today, Philip helps nursing homes retain their staff through 1:1 coaching, guiding clients through the 5-step Retention Success System. With a passion for making a difference in the quality of health care administered to our country’s aging population, Philip balances his passion for his work with his love for his family and Tenkara flyfishing.

Philip holds a BBA from the University of Miami and an MFA from Lindenwood University.
